The Board of Advisors of the OCGG helps the Board of Directors in providing strategic direction and intellectual guidance to the Council.
Jacques Barrot

Mr Barrot is the European Commissioner for Transport and Vice President of the European Commission. He was previously the European Commissioner for Regional Policy.
Mr Barrot was born in Yssingeaux in France on 3 February 1937. He is married and has three children.
Mr Barrot is a barrister. In addition to his law degree, he also has an advanced diploma in sociology as well as a diploma from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.
Mr Barrot has extensive ministerial experience from the Government of France. He was State Secretary for Housing from 1974 to 1978, Minister for Trade and Craft Industries from 1978 to 1979, Minister for Health and Social Security from 1979 to 1981, and Minister for Labour and Social Affairs from 1995 to 1997.
Mr Barrot has long parliamentary experience from the National Assembly of France. He was a member for Haute-Loire representing the 1st district of Le Puy-Yssingeaux from 1967 to 2004. He was Chairman of the Cultural, Family and Social Affairs Committee from 1986 to 1988, Chairman of the Finance Committee from 1993 to 1995, and special rapporteur on vocational training of the Finance Committee from June 1997 to May 2002.
Mr Barrot has broad political experience. He was the General Secretary of the Centre des Democrates Sociaux from 1983 to 1991. He was the Chairman of the Union du Centre Group in the National Assembly from 1991 to 1993. He was the First Vice-Chairman of the Union pour la Démocratie Française Group in the National Assembly from 1993 to 1995. He was the Chairman of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire Group in the National Assembly from 2002 to 2004.
Mr Barrot has been active in local and regional government. He was a Member of the Auvergne Regional Council from 1976 to 1986. He was Mayor of Yssingeaux from 1989 to 2001. He has been Chairman of the Haute-Loire Departmental Council from 1976 to 2004.
Mr Barrot has also been engaged in civil society. He was the National Vice-Chairman of the Cercle de l'Industrie, the forum for major French industrial firms until 2004.
Mr Barrot is the author of Les Pierres de l’Avenir (1978) and the co-author of Notre contrat pour l’alternance (2001) with Michel Barnier, Dominique Perben and Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
